Positive Thinking on Finish the Sentence Friday

When I’m really old, and look back at my life I hope to know that I made a difference in someone’s life and convinced them to think positive no matter what illness they need to battle.

I've always looked at myself as being a healthy person as far as the basic colds and flu’s go. One time I had a flu shot only because my doctor said he wouldn't let me leave his office without one. That was the only one as I don't believe in flu shots. I think I’ve been blessed with a good immune system, and for that I am grateful.

Those of you that know me might not agree with me that I'm healthy but that’s how I feel. Sure I’ve been through a lot of illnesses such as breast cancer; not once but twice, clinical depression, flesh eating disease, and I’ve just found out that I'm in remission for lung cancer. I'm happy to say that I am a Breast Cancer Survivor. Most of those are heavy illnesses but I've always looked at them as bumps in the road. I strongly feel that the power of positive thinking can beat anything you may have to face during your lifetime.

Positive thinking won't beat cancer but it will sure help you kick its ass.

Looking back at my life I see that everything I've been through has only made me stronger.

I Thought I Was Going to Die When - Finish the Sentence Friday

Garth, my son, was learning how to drive. He wanted to go on the hwy and I quickly thought about it. "Instead of going on the main hwy, how about we go on hwy 12", I said to him. (This is still considered a hwy but the speed limit is 80 km and hour rather than 100)

The weather wasn't that great and it started to rain. I was getting a little nervous but he seemed to be handling the rain okay.

We'd gotten pretty far away from home and I suggested that we turn around at the next street or driveway off the hwy. Garth didn't realize that I meant the very next one and when I said here pointing, he wasn't prepared.

He turned quickly without breaking enough and we turned, slid, skidded, and I thought I Was Going to Die when everything that was in the back of van shifted back and forth a few times. I remember my fingers hurting from gripping onto the seat so tight thinking the we were going to roll. Finally we came to a stop and we were fine.

I asked Garth what he was thinking and he said, "You told me to turn here and didn't give me enough warning." Fair enough I thought, saying "Just don't tell Dad."

When was the last time you thought you were going to die?

Becoming a Grownup - Finish the Sentence Friday

Wanting so bad to participate in this weeks FTSF because it has been awhile since I did, my mind kept drawing a blank. It was driving me crazy and so I went to our Facebook group looking for sympathy I guess. I read  few other peoples posts and the first one I read really made me stop and go WOW. If you've not read +Kristi Campbell 's yet I won't spoil it for you. All I can say is that she's one amazing mother. No I didn't mean that the way it may have sounded.

My Mom and I

This weeks finish the sentence Friday is .....

Almost there, (Grownup) but not quite
The most unexpected part of being a grownup is once I got here I was so freaking happy to be here. When I was a little girl I always wanted like most kids do, to be all grown up. I remember I couldn't wait for the day to arrive where I no longer had to live with my parents. To have my very own space, job, car, and someday family, was all I ever wanted or dreamed about. I even imagined myself being swept away on horseback by Prince Charming. Maybe he was actually rescuing me from the evil step-monster, but that's another story in itself.

Most people once they are all grown up are always saying, Oh to be young again, to be a child again without any worries or concerns, don't wish your life away, once you're an adult life will never be simple again.

I say:

Hell no! I never ever want to go back in time. I like being an adult and being a grownup. Sure there are responsibilities that come with being an adult but to me there's no place I'd rather be.
