Feed Three People A Steak dinner For Ten Dollars

Menu:

Steak, Baked Potato, and a Side of Sauté Vegetables

Yes it is hard to believe that you can actually feed three people steak for ten dollars for the entire meal these days. But it can be done and I will explain how.

First off I used blade steak. If marinated for 2–3 hours and not over-cooked this meat can be very tender. I was able to find a large steak weighing just over two pounds for 30% off the regular price. I am always shopping for deals like this.

Pound your steak with a meat mallet tenderizer on both sides. Place in a dish that your are marinating the steak in. Stab the steak with a sharp knife in about 10-15 places. (This will allow the marinade to seep through the meat) Sprinkle generously with Worsheshire sauce, garlic powder and Montreal steak spice. Cover and refrigerate. When you are ready to cook pre-heat your oven on broil and place the oven rack on the highest part of your oven. Place the marinated steak on your broiler pan. I prefer my meat rare to medium rare so this is how I cook it and find that the steak is very tender.

Either bake your potatoes or microwave them.

Side of Sauté Vegetables

1 large Spanish onion sliced thick
1 green pepper cut into chunks
1 tomato cut into chunks

Heat one tablespoon of butter, margarine or vegetable oil in a frying pan. Add sliced onions and cook on medium high for about four minutes. Sprinkle with garlic powder, fresh ground pepper and a Cajun spice. (I use Slap Ya Mama Cajun spice) Turn heat down to medium then add green pepper and tomatoes and cook for another ten minutes stirring frequently.

There is your meal. I did make a side green salad, which was another two dollars.

Bon Appetite!
