A week ago I went to the Canadian National Exhibition also
known to Canadians as The Ex, which is an 18-day fair held at Exhibition Place
in Toronto, Ontario. We always enjoy
the food that this fair has to offer, as there are many new, unusual and
delightful treats to try. This year the big attraction was the Krispy Kreme
Burger. Because I have been dieting for three months and having a hamburger
sandwiched between two donuts was not really all that appealing to me I passed
on the opportunity to indulge in one of these 1500-calorie delights. My brother
in law on the other hand just had to have one. After waiting in line for half
an hour to purchase the Krispy Kreme burger, he arrived back at the table
displaying what he had bought. Of course I had to take a picture of this and as
you can see it is a burger sandwiched between two glazed donuts. After watching
him eat half of the donut I had to know what he thought about it. He said that
it was quite tasty with a salty and sweet fix all in one.
The Krispy Kreme burger costs $8.00 and if you like you can
have for an extra $2.00 a fried egg and bacon added to the burger to go along
with the lettuce, tomato and cheddar cheese.
If you are planning to attend any fairs or carnivals this
fall I am sure that many will be featuring this hamburger, as it is quite the
attraction.
To top off your meal you may want to try a deep-fried
chocolate bar or deep-fried Twinkies on a stick that is all the rage this year.
I can remember driving in the USA and came across these Crispy Creamer donuts and at once I was in love. They are so soft and yummy. What a difference from our Timmy Donuts that are all baked in Milton, then shipped frozen to every store and placed in ovens to thaw them out and then serve. I like the Crispy Creamers much better. An now the burger, wow...I've got to try one or tow or three of those beauties. Thanks for sharing Susan. I'm licking my fingers.
