Silly On Sundays 14 Kitchen Mishaps

Do you ever cook something that you've never made before and it's God Awful? Or burn a pan because you were too busy to check the oven due to being on the computer playing a stupid game or reading something really interesting? I sure have but when I make a terrible tasting dish I have hubby conditioned to eat it no matter what. He knows if he tells me the truth I more than likely won't cook for at least two days. This something he's learned over the years, it didn't happen over night. Still though I know when he doesn't like something that I've made because he very quietly eats it without saying a word. When asked what he thinks of it he'll say, oh ya it's good.

I find Gordon Ramsay can be a really funny guy. Put him and Ellen together and I'm laughing like a hyena. So for today's SOS post I thought I'd share a video when Gordon was a guest on the Ellen show. Hope it makes you laugh like it made me laugh.

If you have a funny story, a joke, a funny poem, or had or did something silly lately please share it. If you'd like to join in on the fun of this blog hop you can link up below or share it in the comments. Grab my button if you'd like and hope that every one has a very silly Sunday.

Silly On Sundays 13 Coaster Collection

Hi and Welcome to Silly On Sundays. We've now hit week 13 and I hope this signifies a lucky week.

Grab my button if you'd like

This past summer I was out looking for coasters. We'd gotten a new coffee and end table to go along with our newly renovated living room so off I went on a coaster hunt. Surprisingly the stores in town didn't have that much of a selection. One kitchen store I went into said that they couldn't get coasters. What???? Why not? The answer I got was that people weren't buying them as much anymore as they once did. I found this a little strange and unbelievable so I continued on with my hunt.

A few weeks passed by and still I'd not been able to find what I was looking for so every time I'd go out for lunch or a beer I'd help myself to the coasters that came with my drink. You're allowed to do that right? Hope no one sends the coaster patrol after me as I'd hate to be locked up.

My sons girlfriend Meghan noticed one day what I was doing and she started grabbing coasters for me as well. Then my my mother in law jumped on the coaster wagon. I now have more coasters than I know what to do with. But hey one can never have too many coasters right.

A few of my favorites

I suppose the silliest thing is that at Christmastime I ended finding a set of six coasters at the Mariposa Market in Orillia. Of course I bought them! I wouldn't actually steal a set of six.

My newest and most favorite of all. I love the artwork that went into this.

Do you think it's silly to have a coaster collection that is slowly turning into an addiction?

I did a bit of reading and found out that there are a lot of people that collect coasters.

What do you collect?

Anything silly happen to you this week? Please share it with us and join in on SOS.

My co-host +Kelly Umphenour has been cooking up a storm a with a silly story over at RealHousewife.

If only I'd have gone to Amazon I would have found these.

Silly On Sundays - Silly Dogs

HI and welcome to yet another SOS. Today I thought I'd talk about silly dogs. I've always thought my female dog was just being plain lazy by eating all the time while laying down. I worked at a dog kennel a few years back and never once did I ever see a dog lie down while mowing down on their breakfast or dinner, and started to think that Maggie Magz  had learned this habbit from my husband who loves to eat on the couch in front of the TV while in the horizontal position.

This video is of a Great Dane puppy named Jessie that is I think now around 16 weeks if I'm not mistaken. I've been watching her grow since +Dean Sault first brought her home. Don't tell my dogs but I'm in love with this dog, and think that she's the sweetest pup I've seen in a long time.

When you're a large or giant breed dog I can see the purpose of being in the horizontal position to eat as it's a long way to go to bend down to get at that food.

Now they do sell at the various pet stores or on amazon dog dish stools that grow with your dog. See what I'm talking about below.

Sorry for the amazon mess above but I couldn't get the code to copy properly for some reason.

This dog food bar stool will grow with your dog as your dog grows. It raises from 12 - 18 inches. This is great unless you feel your dog should lie down while eating. I'm exactly sure which way is healthier for the dog but I'd think the normal way to eat would be standing up for them. Now I understand that Jessie was tired this day that she ate in the video but for all you dog lovers out there this dog dish bar stool may be just the thing that you're looking for.

I would like to get a few of these for my pups but they're seven now and I don't really want to start trying to change the way they've been accustomed to eating all these years.

While I have your attention, or think I do I must share a book that I'm almost finished reading. I have 20 pages left to go. You know how you know you're getting to the end of a book that you just love but know the end is near and you don't really want the book to end.... Well I'm finding this with Dean Sault's book called Ghost of Lost Eagle. This book is a western romance and I must say that it is the first western romance book I've ever read. It has not disappointed me at all. Dean is such a fantastic writer and I'm so glad to have met him. I can't wait to read all of his books. If you're looking for a great author to start reading I suggest starting with this one.

Silly On Sundays #11 - Trapped

Hi and welcome to Silly On Sundays. If this is your first time here and you're wondering what this is ..... Silly On Sundays or SOS is a blog hop that +Kelly Umphenour,  my co-host, over at RealHousewife and I do on Sundays. If you'd like to join we'd love to see you link up below.

There are no rules whatsoever. All we ask is that you share something silly that you saw, heard about, did, or something someone else did. Share a funny picture, video, or even tell a joke. Funny or silly poems are welcome too.

The silliest thing that I read about this week was about this woman in Toronto, Ontario, that was trapped inside The Bay all night. The Bay is a very large department store. If you'd like to read the whole story that I read you will find it here.

Apparently Emily Keeler who happens to be a writer said the experience was terrifying. The store had closed, was locked up, and there she was all alone in The Bay. Here's the silly part of this entire thing. She was tweeting. People were tweeting her back with suggestions on what to do. Someone gave her the phone for the police. Obviously this was some kind of a joke that she'd set up herself ... or was it? You can see all the tweets back and forth at the link above. When asked to be interviewed by City TV News, she refused.

The things we do in Canada for publicity and attention :)

Does anyone remember this kids TV show called Today's Special? I used to watch this with my boys when they were little. When I read about Emily being trapped in The Bay I thought of this show.

That's my Silly On Sundays for this week.

Thanks for stopping by everyone and have a great Sunday!
Do something Silly today.

Silly on Sundays 10 - Hamilton Beach

Saying Goodbye

Our old Cuisinart coffee maker finally got a send off this past week. It had its last CLR clean out and it was time to say goodbye. No longer could it carry out its duties as a coffee maker. It was just not up to getting that cup of java hot anymore. Freshly brewed is not that tasty when tepid.

All in all it had been a good coffee maker, one that I'd say I was proud of, and happy to have know. But hey we all get old, worn out, over-used ... and yes, sometimes even abused.

So out with the old and in with the new ... without further adieu let me introduce Hamilton Beach to you.

HB is not exactly as attractive as C was, but I couldn't pass up a 1/2 price deal at Canadian Tire.
HB came with a 5 year warranty ... hmm ... doubt it will last that long in this house, but we'll see.
There is no carafe with the Hamilton Beach Brew Station .... This was the selling feature for me.

Friday night I had set the HB up so that on Saturday morning all I needed to do was to hit the brew button. Yes I could have set it up with the programming thing but I didn't know what time I'd wake up on Saturday morning. With my luck I would have slept in and the coffee would have been cold by the time I got to it.

Normally my cup of choice is my Tim Hortons coffee mug. Someone was a wee bit behind on their kitchen duties (moi) and the Tim's mug was dirty, so I chose a mug that happened to have a black inside. As I was getting my first cup of the day I was looking down at my mug thinking it was at about the 1/2 point of full, or empty ... (depending on your point of view). Then I started thinking (I think way too much) cups with a light coloring on the inside would be a much better cup choice for this type of coffee maker.......

The next thing I knew there was coffee pouring over the top of my cup and all over the counter top. Apparently when I thought it was at the 1/2 way point it was in actually at the full point.

Today I'm sitting here enjoying my 2nd cup in my Tim's cup :)

Thanks for visiting today. If you'd like to link up for Silly On Sundays and share something funny, silly, stupid, a joke, a video, a poem .... anything you want, please do so below. Feel free to grab my button along the way.

Have yourself a very Silly Sunday!

Silly On Sundays 9 and Ten Things of Thankful

It's been a busy last few days so today I'm combing two blog hops into one. I feel as if I'm cheating doing this but hey it works right?

First I'll begin with an update on my new chemo cocktail that I started on of all days Valentine's Day. I thought that I had to be at my appointment at 2 p.m. on Friday. I'd looked at the calendar that the receptionist prints out for me for each cancer related appointment I have. Well silly me looked at the wrong date in error. Funny because my husband had said to me, are you sure that you don't have to have blood work done prior to the appointment .... I pulled out the calendar while I was talking to him on the phone, and said, ..... no, it says right here in black and white .... chemo 2.p.m.

Normally when I get to the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre I check in downstairs before proceeding to where I need to go. We were about three minutes late, or so I thought, and headed right to where I have chemo. Why didn't I check in downstairs where I normally do? No idea, it's not like I'm new to this entire process, since I've been coming here since September of 2013. Must have been GOOFY.

I proceed to check in with the receptionist and ask her if it is okay that I skip the registration due to being three minutes late. You've had your blood work done first right though right, she asks.  Uh, no, I answer her,  just chemo for today, no blood work. To double check I take out my printed calender and realize right then and there that I'm not 3 minutes late, I'm 2 hours late! Blood work was scheduled at 12 noon, and chemo was scheduled at 1 not 2. EEKS!

Oh no, I'm so sorry, I was looking at the wrong date on my calendar. The receptionist is so nice and she's experienced my GOOFY, aka Chemo Brain, before and tries to make me feel a little less embarrassed by saying, Don't worry about it, this happens to me all the time. I'll call the lab, you go and get your blood work done, and come right back up here.

One thing about me is that I've always taken great pride in the fact that I'm always on time. Up until about ten years ago that is .... None the less if I'm late now, I fret, I feel foolish, I'm embarrassed, I feel like I've let someone and myself down. Oh well some people change for the better, some for the worse. In this case I feel it's for the worse. My dad was a perpetual on time person. It drove him crazy if someone said I'll be there at 1 and then didn't show up until 2.

Hubby sees how stupid I feel and tries to make me feel better saying, It's okay Sue, we'll just be here now for 3 hours rather than the one hour you thought we'd be here. Stop being so hard on yourself, after all you checked the calendar what how many times? You had it in your head that the appointment was at 2 and you were so convinced that it didn't matter how many times you checked it, you saw 2 not the fact that you were looking at the wrong date. He then gives me a little smile and a nudge to let me know he isn't trying to make me feel bad, just a chance for him to get in a few digs. This is fine with me because I get digs in all the time when he screws up too.

So after waiting for about 45 minutes I'm in the chair waiting for the nurse to start the i.v. for my new Chemo Cocktail called pemetrexed. The best thing about this new treatment is that it takes an hour to administer, and I only have to have it every 3 weeks. In about three months I'll then have another CAT scan done to see what has happened with the remaining tumors.

That was my silliness for the week and for the ten things of thankful ....

1. Thankful that the staff and everyone that works at the Stronach Centre are so forgiving, understanding, and helpful.

2. Thankful that the swelling in my legs, feet and ankles have finally gone way down and that my feet no longer look like Fred Flinstone's.

3. Thankful that with this new chemo treatment there are;

  • less side effects
  • easier on my system
  • only one before chemo pill to take, rather than 3
  • takes an hour or a little less to administer
  • one treatment every 3 weeks

4. Thankful that I have a husband that insists on taking me to all my appointments and doesn't seem to mind.

5. Thankful that the pain that I've been experiencing in my neck for the past 2 weeks is starting to subside.

6. Thankful that for the past three days I've been feeling better than I have in the past 3 weeks.

7. Thankful that we're 1/2 way through February and that much closer to spring!

8. Thankful that all the people I play Scrabble and Words With Friends with don't get upset with me when I only play once a day and that it can take up to a week to finish one game.

9. Thankful that I am getting so many five star reviews on my book. Many of which are from people I don't even know.

10. Thankful for all of you!

Silly on Sundays number 8 and Doggies Go to Jail

http://everythingsusanandmore.blogspot.ca/
Sunny Florida
I was sitting and relaxing reading a book on my mother in laws porch in sunny Florida one September day. It was as hot as hell! I always pick the wrong time of year to visit. Anyways I get a text from my son Garth saying,Phone Home! He was back in Ontario with my husband, and our two Newfoundland dogs.

It was unusual for him to be texting me, so I immediately went inside and called him. What's up, I ask when he answers the phone.

The dogs got out, he replied.

What do you mean the dogs got out!

I was talking to a friend at the front door and they both got by me.

Well did you not try and go to get them?

Oh ya of course I did, but they ran up the street so fast I couldn't keep up and now I don't know what to do.

Well get out there and find them!

I wasn't sure exactly what my son expected me to do seeing that I was 1,421 miles away.

After talking to Garth I sent a text message to my husband to let him know what was going on. I felt helpless and very worried that the dogs would get hit by a car or  kidnapped, dognapped. They are both pretty friendly and love people.

All that day and into the night I was in constant contact with my husband and sons. They'd all gone out searching and searching for Maggie Magz and Bruce with no luck at all.

The next morning I get the call that that I'd been waiting for. The dogs had been found by Matthew and Allan. They lived close to the animal shelter and thought that they'd check and see if the dogs happened to have been picked up by animal control. Sure enough there they were in an outside pen having the time of their lives. They didn't seem distressed whatsoever. Because the shelter didn't open until 11 am they'd have to wait to get them released on bail.

Hubby and my twins boys went and talked to someone at the shelter and the woman they talked to said that Maggie Magz and Bruce were the friendliest dogs she'd ever seen. They had no problems with them whatsoever and they were very well behaved. Due to this my husband only had to pay a 30.00 fine and the little jail birds were released into his custody.

Normally both dogs wear collars with their tags attached. For some reason this day they got out they were not wearing them. I'm sure that after a day or so that animal control would have read the chips that both dogs have. All is well and the dogs have had other opportunities to easily go for a walkabout since, but thankfully they've stuck around their own home and backyard.

Silly on Sundays Number 7

Hi, and welcome to Silly on Sundays, a blog hop that I hope, wish,  am begging you to join. Yes begging! Come on you bloggers, there are no rules, and you can post whatever you like ... well almost whatever you like. You see I have this dream to create a blog hop that goes viral! Isn't that everyone's dream? Okay, okay so I'm trying to be silly here, give me a break.

http://everythingsusanandmore.blogspot.ca/
Silly On Sundays Blog Hop

All you have to do is share a funny story about yourself or someone you know. Be sure that it's okay with them if you're sharing a story about someone other than yourself. Don't go embarrassing someone if it's going to get you in trouble, and please try and keep it as clean as possible. No stories to share? No worries, find a funny video that made you laugh this week, or tell us a joke. Post a silly picture but remember to make sure you attribute it properly. You don't want anyone sending you an email telling you that you're about to get sued over a picture that you've only borrowed. See how easy it is to join this blog hop? So you're sold right? Well what are you waiting for then? Get to it!

My post for this week is not really all that silly but I have to post something since it is my blog hop. So here goes. Thank goodness I have a co-host +Kelly Umphenour over at RealHousewife that I can always count on for posting something silly.

Head under chair keeping the light out of her eyes. If she could write I'm sure she'd have put up a Do Not Disturb sign.

Last night hubby fell asleep on the couch as he often does.I went up to bed because I love having the bed all to myself. Yes I know I'm selfish that way. So anyways Maggie Magz our female Newfoundland dog needs to go outside around midnight and manages to wake hubby up from a sound sleep. How do I know if it was a sound sleep seeing that I was already tucked away all cozy in bed? The man sleeps like a rock. I'm actually quite surprised that she was even able to wake him up. I swear that he would be able to sleep through an earthquake. So he lets her out and when calling her to come back in she ignores him. He goes back to the couch to watch some TV before trying to get her back inside. He falls asleep! Yes the poor dog is outside in the middle of winter. She's not exactly outside, she's in our back porch/sun room, but still it's fairly cold out there. Hubby awakes 4-5 hours later and all he can hear is barking followed by whimpering. Jumping up and coming to his senses he quickly goes to the back door and lets Maggie in. Maggie walks through the door, past hubby, and goes immediately to her bed where she slept most of the day.

I caught her under my new chair later on in the day still napping. Poor old girl. I felt so bad that she'd been left out on the back porch. Next time she's called in at night I'm sure that she'll remember last night and come running.

Have a great week everyone and thanks for stopping by.

Silly on Sundays the 6th Addition

Grab my button please!

It's hard to believe that this is the 6th addition of Silly on Sundays already. My week has been full of silliness and a lot of laughs. How about yours? Is there something that you'd like to share that was silly or funny? If so please join in on the fun of SoS and link up below. It can be anything from a joke or a silly picture you've seen or taken, to a silly story that has happened to you, or someone you know. No rules at all and anything goes.

Today I was talking to an old friend of mine that I hadn't talked to in too many years. Anyways I was telling her my silly story about how my hubby named me GOOFY and her reply to me was "Your flash drive went, but your hard drive is just fine." I thought I was going to fall off the bar stool I was sitting on, I laughed so hard. It's always nice to get back in touch with friends you've not talked to in years. I'm looking forward to having lunch with her soon.

Here' s a video that made me laugh this week. Hope it makes you laugh too. Please keep in mind that I do have a strange sense of humor.

Be sure to check out what my co-host +Kelly Umphenour has going on over at RealHouswife.

Silly on Sundays 5 T-Shirts

Grab my button if you like.
How silly are you feeling this Sunday? Was there something you saw, did, or said that was just plain silly this week? I sure hope so because without a little bit of silliness in my life, my life would be boring. Please link up and join in on Silly on Sundays.

This week I smelled something bad in the house and said to my husband that smell makes me want to puke! His reply to me was, "You should get a t-shirt that says,  You make me want to puke, because lately you've been saying that a lot lately."

What do you think of this for a t-shirt?

So I made a t-shirt for my blog post this week. I haven't actually had it printed up yet but I know this fabulous girl named Jenny McNeil who would be perfect for doing just this for me. She even has her own website, and thought that I'd share some of her work here for you to see. You can order anything you like or place a custom order. The name of the site is Unicorn Tees and they do a fantastic job over there. Be sure to check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Silly on Sundays - 4

I'm posting my SoS early this week due to the fact that I slept in last Sunday.

Silly on Sunday is a new Blog Hop that I started a month ago and I'm hoping that more people will join in. Post anything you like that is Silly or that you think is Silly.
Share a picture, a joke, something silly that happened to you during the week, or to someone you know.

Kelly over at RealHousewife will be co-hosting this Blog Hop with me. Check her out if you haven't yet as she's is the Real Deal!

One day this week I felt this cold wet nose awaken me from a nice sleep I was having. I opened my eyes to see Bruce staring back at me. "Give me a kiss Bruce" Nothing just this cold stare at me like he was telling me that it was time to get up and let him outside to relieve himself.

Again I say,  "Come on hows about a kiss." He gives me this grunt and walks away.

I thought hubby was sleeping,  but oh no, he wasn't as I hear him say, "Must be human breath."

Me, Dog Breath? No way, you've got human breath!

Silly on Sundays - New PJ's

I hate taking pictures of myself but I suppose I need to keep up with the times. Sometimes I feel as if I live in a bubble and miss a lot of what is going on around me and in the world even though I spend most of my day on the Internet. Doesn't really make sense does it.

This is me sporting my new PJ's.

Silly on Sundays & TToT

This is my button for SOS, but have yet to set it up so that you can grab it if you like.

Last week I had said I'd wanted to start a blog hop called Silly on Sundays. I'm hoping that people will join in and have some fun with me on this blog hop. There are no rules at all. If you need some ideas you may want to:

  1.  post a picture
  2.  tell a joke
  3.  share a recipe that went totally bad that even the dog wouldn't eat, or one that is delicious,
  4.  share something that made you laugh during the week
  5.  vent about something that you think was ridiculous after you thought about
  6.  share an embarrassing moment (lately I've had tons of these)

On a walk around town one day I saw a business that I'd never noticed before. Maybe it was new.  I'm not really sure, but it struck me as funny at the time. Why would Orillia need an entire business called The Divorce Centre. There are many things that strike me as funny in Orillia. Why do we need so many Tim Hortons doughnut shops & dollar stores? Every time I go to count the number of Tim Hortons, they add a new one, so I've given up counting them.

I'm trying to set up the Inlinkz tool so please bear  bare with me.

I'm also still working on a "Grab My Button" for this SOS Blog Hop. Hope that this works out too for me.

I missed the TToT post for last weekend and I don't have a post for it this weekend so I thought I'd add it here.

1. Christmas baking is almost done.
2. With the help of my mother in law our tree is up and beautifully decorated. Claire actually did the entire tree herself. I'm not big on decorating for holidays.
3. Happy that my mother in law is here to spend the holidays with us.  It has been ten years since we've had her with us for the holidays as she's a Florida Snow Bird.
4. Thankful that the ice storm has not effected our hydro yet. Not very happy that it is causing havoc many of my relatives and friends.
5. Thankful that I've not gotten sick from any of my chemo treatments, and have not lost my hair.
6. Happy that I have such a great family.
7. Thankful for all the wonderful people that I've met online.
8. My husband just made me a huge pancake breakfast that I'm about to mow down on; thankful he can cook.
9. Thankful that I'm almost ready for the festivities to begin on Christmas Eve.
10. Thankful to be alive.

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to Everyone!
